The Story

Welcome Everyone, this is the story of the Vineyard Street Crew.  It’s a fictional story based on real events.  Each character is based upon a real person who played a significant role in bringing this piece of art to fruition.

This is just the beginning of these artistic collaborations and the first two burds that have decided to show their faces to the world are Marti Flosstin and Gallidy Cricket (Photos Above!).  Marti Flosstin is a Blue Martin Burd.  He is pretty small in size and his feathers are a navy/purple color. In a way, he is the “clasp” that holds the group together.  Gallidy Cricket is a Purple Gallinule with a big heart and he has a magnetic pull to all of those in his presence which brings a lot of fun to the group.  His vibrant feathers are purple and blue with a metallic silver and gold sheen.  Marti and Gallidy met at the beach in Wilmywood, Norti Cacki.  They rolled with the same crew and danced a similar dance.  This went on for a few years until they both decided it was time to leave their comfy nests of Wilmywood.  Eventually Gallidy Cricket moved to Vineyard Street in Boldi, Coliridi where he found a great community with ample room to let his full colors shine.  This is where he met Calm Trochi and Lawri Gem.

Calm and Lawri are amongst the most majestic birds of the world.  Calm is a hummingbird with a needle like beak, tiny feathers and super stealth speed.  Although he is so fast, he has a patient demeanor that is noticeable in a soothing way when you are around him.  One may think that he has been forced to be patient when his reality is so much faster than those around him.  In his perspective, we might as well be moving in slow motion.  Lawri Gem is a Shaman Owl.  He is very wise and obtains alchemic skills giving him the ability to transform what may seem like a boring rock into gorgeous gemstones.  Calm, Lawri, and Gallidy all became close friends and built nests on Vineyard Avenue together.  They had many nights of dancing, singing and laughing.  One day, Gallidy and Marti were catching up on the phone and they decide it was time for Marti to fly in and visit Gallidy and his new friends.

Marti hadn’t seen Gallidy in such a long time, so he decided a visit was in order!  Little did he know the pandemonium that would ensue on this trip.  When Marti arrived he was welcomed with open arms and the new friends danced and sang through the evening.  The next morning, Lawri had some bad news to share with everyone.  All of Boldi Coloridi was in a state of Emergency.  The nest was flooded and they were hours away from it being entirely destroyed and washed away into the watery abyss.  For the next few hours the birds flew all around Boldi bringing back twigs, dibs, and snibs to fill in the holes the water had carved out of the nest.  Nothing seemed to be working and the water level kept getting higher and higher.  News was spreading throughout town of nests being washed away and hope was running away from their minds like a no pants wookie running away with a stolen smoky quartz.

When it seemed like all was lost, Calm came up with a plan.  He had overheard a bumble bee speaking of a sword which gave the beholder psychic abilities and telepathic powers.  This sword was called, The Sword of Earl.  They all knew that the only way to overcome the flood was to find the Sword of Earl.  Gallidy Cricket volunteered to make a trip to the nearby city where the legend stated that it was held deep within the tomb of the ancient Duke of Earl.  Gallidy flew swiftly to the capital city with the wind at his back, and in his mind he knew nothing could stop him from finding the sword.  As he flew closer and closer to the tomb he began to hear a voice on the wind.  This was the song of Lawri, the Shaman burd of the Violet street crew.

Lawri had taken a trip into the spiritual realm and found the secret hiding spot where the key was buried to open the doors of the tomb.  He sang a burd song, and the wind had carried the message all the way to Gallidy who was flying in circles over the tomb looking for a point of entry.  Once he knew where to go, he took a nose dive straight towards the Statue of Earl and found his way into the chamber where the key was held.  He got the key and opened the doors.  There! He saw it; shining in all its glory, the Sword of Earl.  He quickly grabbed it and put it on his back, flew back to Boldi and patched up the nest.  With the newly renovated nest, they were able to survive the flood!  The Vineyard Street crew realized that if they all put their minds together that they could defeat any obstacle.
